The severity of COVID-19 symptoms can range from mild to severe, and in some cases, can lead to death. Current information suggests most people don't experience severe illness or need to be hospitalized.
Nova Scotia Health Authority has established COVID-19 assessment centres. If you need in-person assessment, 811 will refer you to a centre.
Don't go to a COVID-19 assessment centre unless 811 referred you.
On August 1, 2023, we moved to Phase 2 of our reopening plan:
- Campus remains closed to the general public. The general public is now permitted to walk across campus while wearing non-medical face masks, but not to linger or hold any activities on the University grounds, such as picnics or games.
- Faculty and staff who need to return to campus for essential work are beginning to return, but this will not exceed 50-60% of employees.
- Masks are required in publicly-accessible indoor spaces and in situations where physically-distancing is not possible.

News release: Acadia’s re-opening plan is a collaborative effort
Acadia University is continuing a phased approach to reopening its campus, which began on July 6, starting with essential employees and research activities and clients of privately-run sports therapy and performance training businesses in the Athletics Complex.
Although most buildings remain closed, members of the general public are now permitted to walk across the campus providing they follow Acadia’s social distancing and mask protocols, and do not to gather in groups, linger, or hold any activities on the University grounds.
The plan is to eventually see full operations in September, although some employees will continue to work from home, and safety and health restrictions will be in place. Right now, those who work from home will continue to do so.
